Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 Lbs. Ground Pork
  • 2 Tbl Olive Oil
  • 2 Tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Pepper
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Minced
  • 1 Onion Medium yellow onion diced
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper Diced
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper Diced
  • 2 Cups Tomato Puree
  • 2 Tbl Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbl Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Cup Chicken Broth
  • 6 Buns Brioche or hamburger buns
  • 6 Slices Cheese Cheddar, American, Provolone or your choice
  • 1/2 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/2 Tsp Cayenne Pepper Optional

Method
 

  1. In a heavy bottomed skillet, or a Dutch oven, on medium-high heat add olive oil, ground pork fennel seeds, crushed red pepper, salt and black pepper, breaking it up with a potato masher as it cooks, about 10 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic, onion and bell peppers and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Lower the heat to medium before adding in the tomato puree, brown sugar, cider vinegar and chicken stock, cooking until saucy and reduced (about 10 minutes).
    Serve on the buns with slice of your preferred cheese.

Notes

This is a very adaptable recipe. You can add other spices, ingredients, or whatever you like to suit it to your taste. Perfect for Superbowl parties.
